“God Save the King” • Psalm 20 – Elder Bryce Lowrance Part 1. Historically, this Psalm was a prayer of the nation of Israel for King David to be delivered through a great battle. The people prayed the God would help him. God blessed David with deliverance, and in turn, the entire nation as well. This Psalm is also a Messianic Psalm which means that it points toward the person and work of the Lord Jesus Christ. When His work on the cross was blessed, the entire elect family of God was blessed. We no longer need to pray for a battle that is coming, but we do need to pray for clear understanding that the battle is already won, and we are more than conquerors. This message was preached on Sunday, January 14, 2024.

“Live for Others” • Romans 12:1-3 – Elder Bryce Lowrance considers the first three verses of chapter 12 in Romans, Paul’s letter to the church at Rome. He looks to what we should logically do in our service to God, beginning with the need to focus on remembering the mercies of God. He considers what it means to “present our bodies a living sacrifice” and exhorts us to consider how we can serve others. Brother Bryce draws clear distinction between sonship and discipleship, encouraging us to be “transformed by the renewing of your mind” and to humble ourselves and think of the needs of others before our own. He reminds us that in doing these things we can still experience joy and learn more about what is “acceptable” as mentioned by the Apostle Paul. This message was preached on Sunday, January 7, 2024.
